How it works

Four steps, and you are in control of all four.

From a 200-page specification to located evidence in a learner’s work — without the AI ever making an assessment decision.

The short answer

Moga'em is an assessor workspace for Pearson BTEC teachers. You upload your own unit specification and assignment brief; Criteria Decoder rewrites the criteria in plain language and maps them to the assignment tasks. Evidence Mapper then locates candidate passages in a learner's work and marks their position. You confirm, reject or reassign each one — the AI never awards a grade.

Reading time: about three minutes.

The four steps in detail

  1. Free

    Bring your own unit pack

Upload the unit specification, assignment brief and delivery guide your centre already uses — PDF or DOCX, up to 20 MB each. Nothing is pre-loaded from Pearson, so you always work from the documents you actually teach to. If the specification is a full qualification book, trim it to your unit first with the free PDF Trimmer, which runs entirely in your browser.

Uploads are validated by file signature rather than by extension alone, and are stored under your own account.

  2. 1 credit per successful run

    Decode the unit once

Criteria Decoder reads your unit pack and restructures the assessment criteria into plain language, mapped to the tasks in your assignment brief. The result is saved to your personal spec library with a version number, so you can reopen it for the rest of the term without spending another credit.

A cached decode is returned from your library with no AI call and no charge unless you explicitly regenerate it.

  3. Free

    Add each learner’s work once

Create a class, add your learners, and upload their documents. Extracted text is cached after the first read, so the same document is reused by Evidence Mapper and On-Screen Review without being uploaded or parsed again.

Files stay under your account with per-user access rules, and are never sold or used to train models.

    Locate the evidence, then decide

Evidence Mapper scans the learner’s work against your decoded criteria and returns candidate passages with their exact position in the document, each labelled matched, partial or no match. Those labels describe whether evidence was found — they are not assessment verdicts. You confirm, reject or reassign every one, and your decision is what gets stored against your name.

On-Screen Review can also give you one review question per criterion, grounded in the work, so nothing is skipped. You still write every judgement.

What Moga’em will not do

An assessment decision belongs to a named assessor. These limits are deliberate, and they are enforced in the product rather than promised in marketing.

  • It does not award grades. No Pass, Merit or Distinction is produced by the AI.

  • It does not write your feedback. On-Screen Review asks you questions; you write the judgement.

  • It does not issue verdicts. Matched, partial and no match describe evidence presence only.

  • It does not share your library. Your decoded units stay in your own account, not a shared pool.

Common questions

Creating an account takes about a minute and includes 5 free credits. Decoding your first unit takes one upload and one run, so most assessors are looking at plain-language criteria within ten minutes of signing up.
